About the Publisher

Emerald Asuncion is a Vancouver resident and a non-profit employee by choice; an avid beach-going-people-watcher,  cyclist & unregistered Human Ecologist with two deep passions, conservation (pick one they’re all fascinating & equally important) & couture.

Knowing that the two worlds rarely collide, she is on a mission to understand the area where they do meet and hopefully she can carve out a quintessential nest for herself somewhere in there. Until then, she will continue to update the world–  in the form of this blog — on all the amazing things everyone else is doing to help maintain the balance.

Educated at the University of Alberta, she received a Bachelor of Science in Human Ecology in 2005. The field promises a wide range of careers, though it is so interdisciplinary that she is still unsure of what to do when she grows up.

Unfortunately, almost no one knows exactly what Human Ecology is so here is a quote from Wikipedia:

Human ecology explores not only the influence of humans on their environment but also the influence of the environment on human behaviour, and their adaptive strategies as they come to understand those influences better. [...] For us, human ecology is a methodology as much as an area of research. It is a way of thinking about the world, and a context in which we define our questions and ways to answer those questions [...]
