I worked so hard on Thursday that I didn’t have a minute to myself. I didn’t even read the news til late this (Friday) morning just minutes before a certain supermodel & her beautiful family graced the bubble of my extended personal radius. She even asked me my favorite daily question about Chihuly (To everyone else except Cindy, is Dale Chihuly the ONLY glassblower EVER??!?!!?). Beyond this positive twist, I’ve gone the entire day stunned and speechless yet in need of expressing the best way to communicate my sadness for the loss of one of my personal favorite textile manipulators, Lee Alexander McQueen.
This blog was created by the inspiration of life in all forms and one of my favorite ways to showcase this inspiration is through artistic interpretation. My forever favorite medium being *fabric*. So much can be communicated without saying a thing. Very few individuals have the skillful, delicate & thoughtfully gifted hands McQueen had.
I will miss your raw biannual heart-on-sleeve placements inspiring my own skill & imagination not to be forgotten.
Everyone on the web already said what I don’t have to so for those who are not familiar with him and those who wonder how this has anything to do with the world we study & the oceans surrounding us… Simply put, it’s life. Inspired by nature & reflected in art.

About Halibut Herald
This will be an ideal headress for a costume party this spring. I wonder if they make this in blue , my daughter’s favorite color.
Where can we buy one?
Hi Tito Rico!
I just learned of who you are from Ate Lydia’s email. Thanks for your kind words (she forwarded your message to me) and of course please spread the word of Halibut Herald to whomever you wish! The more readers, the merrier! My father didn’t teach me tagalog but I’m slowly learning from my friends and on my own so I generally understand your email, cool, huh?!
As for the headdress, I’m sorry, don’t know where you can buy but being in New Jersey, you are closer to NYC than I and I’m sure you can find it somewhere there. Perhaps you or your daughter can use the image to inspire some creativity to make a similar one!
Oh and as for the fish consumption — yes, it’s better than regular farmed carne (go for free range organic meats whenever possible – better farming practices means healthier meats and healthier YOU) — BUT please be mindful of the fish you eat. It’s widely known for a while now that the oceans are 90% clear of all large fish have vanished (including tuna, halibut and other faves) so in this day in age it is so important to be educated on which species are okay to eat. Best resource in the USA is SeafoodWatch @ Monterey Bay Aquarium Please check it out and let me know what you think!
